Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

Erectile dysfunction (ED) occurs when a man has consistent and repeated problems sustaining an erection. Causes include medications, chronic illnesses, poor blood flow to the penis, drinking too much alcohol, or being too tired. The percentage of complete ED increases from five to 15 percent as age increases from 40 to 70 years.

Without treatment, ED can make sexual intercourse difficult. The problem is reported by 1 in 5 men and that number increases with age. Men with ED often have a healthy libido, yet the body fails to respond. In most cases, there is a physical basis for the problem.

Symptoms of ED include:

• Erections that are too soft for sexual intercourse.

• Erections that are too brief for sexual intercourse.

• An inability to achieve erections.

Our Process

But this does not mean growing older signals the end of your sex life. ED can be treated at any age. The Health and Wellness Center in St. Louis, MO is proud to offer a full line of treatment solutions to help you alleviate the many symptoms that cause erectile dysfunction.

We will assess all of the things in your life that could be contributing to ED, and take a complete physical exam to determine all of your attributes that may affect ED. We also may take lab tests for measuring blood cell counts, and liver function tests to diagnose sexual problems.

Once we have the problem diagnosed at its core, we will take all the steps needed to help alleviate the cause of your ED. This could mean prescribing lifestyle changes like more exercise, a better diet, or quitting smoking. Or we may see if oral medications may be the best treatment.
